Kashmir Shawl Store was established by Ahmad Ullah Khan, in the year 1928 in the Walled City of Old Delhi. Since the early 1930’s, having made a name for himself in the shawl industry for quality craftsmanship and exclusivity, he was widely respected, and his clients had been from various royal families in India.
The legacy now being carried forward by Hashmat Ullah Khan and Ikram Ullah Khan, and our team of over 200 Master Craftsmen, have infused a modern soul into the woven and embroidered shawls from Kashmir Valley. Our endeavour has been to preserve the heritage of Kashmir Arts.
A landmark achievement for us has been our successful effort in reviving the Kani shawl in Kashmir which had been obsolete for over a hundred years and were once the favourite of the Indian Emperors and European Royalties.
Hashmat Ullah Khan, partner of the company - Kashmir Shawl Store, got the most prestigious Padma Shri Award from the President of India in 2009 for reviving, preserving and innovating old art forms, especially Kani weaving of shawls. He is the first and the only person in this field getting this award since its inception (1950).
